About Sarah Elizabeth Welborn
Posted 24 Jan 2018, by Marvin Loyd Welborn. Sarah E. Dykes, my GG-grandmother. Suspect deat date based upon births of children and the two spouses of Younger Welborn: Sarah E. Dykes Welborn and Francis Gunter Dykes Welborn.
Suspect Amanda Welborn is daughter of Francis Gunter Dykes Welborn and Younger Welborn. It is possible that Sarah Elizabeth Dykes Welborn was dead by 1865, as Younger and Francis have a son in 1866. This leads me to suspect that Francis and Younger married by 1864, and Sarah's death being between 1863 and 1864. MLW.
Sarah must have died before or in 1865, as Younger's second wife, Francis, gave birth to their first child in August of 1866.
I suspect Sarah died between 1863 and 1864 due to the births of Younger Welborn's issue around that time.
Question: Were Sarah and Francis sisters? Sisters-in-Law?
The 1870 Census of Jasper Co., MS shows Benjamin Franklin Dykes family living next door, neighbors, to William Younger and Francis.

Francis Gunter Dykes Welborn b. 1838/40 was my 2nd great grandaunt on the Gunter side and her husband George Washington Dykes was my 2nd great grand uncle on the Dykes side. (Her sister Permelius Gunter m. his brother Benjamin Franklin Dykes; were my 2nd great grandparents).
Anyway, after George W. Dykes was killed in 1862 in the civil war, she married G.M. Welborn. She had daughters Elizabeth b. 1859 and Matilda b. 1863, her being pregnant at the time of George's death. I have her husband listed as G.M. Welborn, and you have him listed as Younger Welborn. I do not know where my uncle came up with the name G.M.; but he has been researching our genealogy for over twenty years and that is the information that was given to me.
To clear up the post you have on GenForum 7/19/1998; Martha Dykes was the mother of George Washington Dykes, and Cinthia (Cynthia) was his sister. I am not exactly sure who Sara E. Dykes is, I have a Sarah Ann Dykes who m. ??Scott. I have found more children that Martha Dykes and her husband Benjamin had than we had orginally found, so Sarah may be Martha's daughter. I would definitely like to make a connection there. Sarah and Francis were not sisters, but more likely sister-in-laws. I really would like to know what Francis' husbands actual name was. Also any decendents who are interested or may have information on the Gunter side.
