Founder of S.D. Jaffé Sawmillers & Wholesale Timber Merchants, a highly successful business that was originally based in Posen in Prussia (now Poznań, Poland). The main sawmills were located in Hohenholm (near Bromberg) and Osczywilken (near Arys) in East Prussia (now Poland). His sons, Sally, Magnus, Martin & Georg, were also actively involved in the business. In 1903, the headquarters of the business was relocated from Posen to Berlin. Address was:
