SShelley Wellons Moore Capito (born November 26, 1953) is an American politician who is the junior United States Senator from West Virginia. She is formerly a member of the U.S. Representative for West Virginia's 2nd congressional district from 2000 until her election to the Senate in 2014.

She is a member of the Republican Party and a daughter of West Virginia governor Arch A. Moore, Jr. Capito was the only Republican in the West Virginia congressional delegation until 2011 and the first Republican woman elected to Congress from West Virginia. Capito was elected to the United States Senate in the 2014 U.S. Senate election in West Virginia, becoming the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate in the history of West Virginia and the first Republican to win a full term in the Senate from West Virginia since 1942.
