About Sergeant Thomas Jones, DCM MM
SERGEANT THOMAS JONES, M.M. D.C.M. Reg No 95398 1st Kings Liverpool Regiment Joined H M Forces January 22nd 1916; trained at Blackdown Camp; went to the Front July 10th 1916; served on Cambrian and Arras Fronts; he was three times wounded, first time during retirement on March 23, 1918; for which he won the Military Medal; second time, wounded slightly in the face, was in Hospital for two days at Etaples; third time on the Menin Road during an attack on Orvillers, where he was shot through the stomach and died a few hours later ion Regimental Aid Post near Mory. He was afterwards awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. He was engaged by the Milk Department in January 1910 In his younger days he attended Holy Trinity and later became a member of the St Helens Parish Church Men's Bible Class.

Distinguished Conduct Medal CitationGazettted 15 November 1918 Reads:- "For Consipicious Gallantryt and fine leadership in attack and patrolling under heavey machine gun fire. Throughout the two day operatrions, he displayed a strong offensive spirit in attack, and his coolness and determination had a marked effect in maintaining the forward drive during the operations (15.11.1918)
