The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to First Sergeant Albert Adams Clapp, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 6 April 1865, while serving with Company G, 2d Ohio Cavalry, in action at Deatonsville (Sailor's Creek), Virginia, for capture of battle flag of the 8th Florida Infantry (Confederate States of America).
