John /3 Lamson (John /2, William /1), was born at Ipswich, Mass.,
Nov. 21, 1669, and died there Sept. i, 1760, "aged ninety-two." He married Abigail Adams; who died in Ipswich, April 3, 1753, aged eighty-four years. He was a "husbandman" of Ipswich. He and his wife Abigail were admitted to full communion in the Congregational Church in Wenham in 1698.
In 1730, "John Lamson, John Lamson, Jr., Joseph Cummings and Israel Cummings, Jr., ask for an allowance, having built a bridge over the (Ipswich) river, and a way having been laid out from the old Lamson house, on the south side, to Gravelly Brook." {History Essex Co., Vol. I, p. 574.)
He is spoken of in the records as Sergeant John Lamson.
In the Registry of Deeds of Essex County we find that he was a grantee or grantor about five times between 1720 and 1726. It seems that he was not called "Jr." after his father's death, as we find that a John Lamson, sold to John Lamson, Jr., his estate real and personal, {Essex Co. Reg. of Deeds, 41 :63), viz:
"To all Peaple to whom these present shall come JOHN LAMPSON of Ipswich . . . Know YEE that I the said John Lampson partly in consideration of the parentall Love and Naturall afifection which I have and do bear towards my well beloved son John Lampson Jun"" of Ipswich afore*^ and partly for and in consideration of the summ of two hundred pounds of passable money of New England to me in hand paid by my said son John Lampson Jun"" the receipt whereof to my full Consent and Satisfaction I do here by acknowledge . . . confirm to and upon my said son John Lampson ... all my houseing Edifices Lands meadows or marshground thatch banks and common rights with my Goods Chattels and all my estate whether Real or personall which I am well entitled to and have either in possession or Reversion in ye Township of Ipswich or else where in New England together with all ye rights — privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining To Have" and June II, 1722, he is called sen"" by the recorder and he ack'* it July 16, 1722.
He made his will Aug. i, 1747, and it was proved Sept. 29, 1760. It mentions his wife Abigail, and the following children : Peter Lampson, Abigail Edwards (who was deceased with children, viz. : Mary, Abigail, Lucy, Rachel, Benjamin, and Ester), Priscilla Lampson, and John Lampson, who was the Executor, and had the residue. No Inventory or Account of his estate is given.

of Wenham, Jan. 8, 1717/8 (Int. of m. Oct. 14, 1717), and had: Mary, Abigail, Lucy, Rachel, Benjamin, and Ester.

35 Martha, b. Aug. 15, 1702, and probably died before 1747, as she is not mentioned in her father's will (dated Aug. 1, 1747).

37 Priscilla, b. Feb. 25, 1714, m. Capt. Joseph Cummings, Nov. 11, 175 1 (Int. of m. Oct. 26, 175 1) ; d. Aug. 19, 1780.
