Paul C. Crane, 73, of Sycamore, died Monday, June 22, 1987 at the Rochelle Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 3, 1913 in Centralia, Ill., the son of Smiley and Ellen (Sanders) Crane. He married Beulah Ring on May 3, 1941 in St. Louis, Mo.
He was employed at Anaconda Wire and Cable Co. in Sycamore as a machine mechanic for 27 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He attained the rank of sergeant and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a life member of VFW Post 568 in Sycamore, the VFW National Home and the Sportsman's Club of Sycamore.
He is survived by one brother, Gaylord (Mildred) Crane, of Sycamore; one sister, Bessie Edward, of Decatur, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brothers and four sisters.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Butala-Van Natta Funeral Home with the Rev. William C. Henzlik of the Sycamore United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Butala-Van Natta Funeral Home.
