Thomas Dunbar held the rank of Sergeant in the Revolution.
REVOLUTIONARY WAR:
Taken from Massachusetts Sailors and Soldiers in the War of the Revolution , Vol. 5, p. 33: Dunbar, Thomas: Leicester. Sergeant, capt. William Todd's co., Col. Thomas Craft's regt. of artillery stationed at Boston; reutrn for advance pay for 1 mo., etc., sworn to in Suffolk Co., Nov. 30, 1776. Also on p. 33: Dunbar, Thomas: List of prisoners sent from Newport, R.I. on the prison ship " Lord Sandwich", and landed at Bristol March 7, 1778. He is buried in Rawson Brook Cemetary, Leicester, Mass. Source for names and dates of children are: Leicester, Worcester, Massachusetts Vital Records, p. 31, 145,146,and 252.

From "Massachusetts Revolutionary War Soldiers and Sailors":DUNBAR,THOMAS: Leicester. Sergeant, Capt. William Todd's Co., Col. Thomas Craft's Regt. of artillery stationed at Boston. Thomas Dunbar is on the list of prisoners held captive on the prison ship "Lord Sandwich" during the Revolution. Thomas Dunbar was son of John Dunbar and Abigail Tucker, husband of Lucretia Smith. Father of 7 children: Thomas Jr., Nancy, James, Betsy, Chloe, Lucretia and Lucy. He was a Mayflower descendant from Richard Warren and the line has been proven and accepted by the GSMD. Thomas is the brother of David Dunbar who is memorial # 43809687 on this site.
