He was a farmer; deacon and elder in Elder Avery's Baptist church; sergeant of the second Groton company, 1749. He and his wife moved to Mount Hope, N. Y., where died. in 1807; she d. in 1809.

His wife, Hannah Avery, was his cousin.

Occupied operating a grist mill with his father in Groton, Conn. Known as Deacon Pelton, he was fond of arguing and strongly religious. He had a grist, saw and flax mills on a stream near his house.
