About Shabsa Lis
Shabsa was a tzadik, a very gentle man known and beloved by all in Slomniki.
He lived in a house on the main Warsaw to Krakow road and had the concession to collect the tolls for people wanting to cross the bridge over a little river.
Despite his Parkinsonian slow shuffling gait, he would always manage to make his way to shul.
"Szapse Lis was born in Slomniki in 1885 (?). He was a merchant and married. Prior to WWII, he lived in Slomniki, Poland. During the war he was in Slomniki, Poland. Szapse perished in Slomniki, Poland. This information is based on a Page of Testimony in Yad Vashem submitted by his nephew."
