About Shimun Avezbakiyev
Shimun Avezbaki ben Rafael ben Hizkiya Ha Shochet was the third generation of the Avezbaki Shochet (Qasob) family from Bukhara.
Besides, after the local Bukharian Jewish tradition, his sons have taken his first name Shimun for the family name - Shimunov. Hence he is considered to be the founder of the Shimunov Qasob family line.
Shimun Avezbaki Qasob was born in Bukhara, Uzbekistan in 1800 to the family of the Avezbakievs who have been known for being Shochets untill the end of XIXth century. His younger brother Beniyamin Avezbakiev was a tradesman, stayed and died (1932) in Bukhara. His second brother Yosef Avezbakiev moved to Kokand and his descendants are currently unknown.
Shimun Avezbaki Qasob moved to Samarkand in 1858 and shortly after bought a house in the Vostok block (Mahallay Yahudiyoni, old quarter in Samarkand).
Worked his whole life as a Qasob (butcher).
Died in 1880 and buried in Samarkand:
