Funeral services for Sidney Bachrach, 79, of 125 W. Court Manor Place will be 1 pm Saturday in the Monson funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 pm today.
Mr. Bachrach, a son of the founder of the Bachrach clothing business died in his home at 6:30 pm yesterday after an illness of one and one half years. Mr. Bachrach had been retired since 1928 when he and his brother, Albert sold their interest in the business to a third brother, Edgar. H. Bachrachs on Lincoln Square is now operated by Edgars son, Henry. The brothers took over the business from their father, Henry in 1909 after a fire which destroyed the original business building operated as "Cheap Charlies". The elder Bachrach first went into business here in 1877.
Mr. Bachrach had been a resident of Decatur for 75 years. He was born in Paris, Ill, a son of Henry and Matilda (Hamburger) Bachrach. He was married to Marie Shaw on Jan.19, 1939, at Hammond, Ind. He leaves his wife, one brother, Albert of Decatur, one sister, Mattie Bachrach of Los Angeles and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen and Rose, two brothers, Edgar and Louis.
