Birthdate is found in Geburtstags Merkbuch / Birthday Book of Ernestine Reif Schlesinger, in possession of Janet Lindner, ERS's great-grandaughter. Entry by Ernestine Reif Schlesinger, his sister.

Was a partner with brother Hugo in Sam. & Jac. Reif, Malzfabrik, as well as in Erste Wiener Appetit-Prezel-Fabrik Müller & Co (Wiener Zeitung, Jan. 9, 1904, page 23, 3rd col. near bottom). The firm advertised their "Piccolo-Bretzel" (Neue Freie Presse, March 7, 1904, page 10). Their Gebäck-Spezialitaten (baked-goods specialities, including cookies), Bier-bretzels and Piccolo-bretzels were promoted in display ads aimed at retailers: Illustrierter Wegweiser durch die österreichischen Kurorte, Sommerfrischen und Winterstationen, Jan. 6, 1914, page 137.
In 1931, Siegfried Reif lived at Wien I, Franz-Josefs-Kai 17 (Lehmann's Vienna City Directory, 1931). His listing with Sam. & Jac. Reif, Malzfabrik and the pretzel factory appears in the 1938 City Directory although he had died in 1935. His brothers (Berthold, Hugo, Moriz) also appear in the Directory for 1938 (same page).

In 1936 Lehmann's Vienna City Directory p. 1044; in 1937 his name is still listed as company officer with Sam. & Jac. Reif (grain merchants), but is annotated with †.
In 1940 the Reif brothers' names were removed from the officers of the Pretzel business. Siegfried had died in 1935; Hugo died within 3 months of this change. Was this business being "Aryanized?" Partner Müller remained in place, with his name appended to that of the company. Wiener Zeitung, January 27, 1940 page 6, right-hand side near the top.
