He was arrested in 1938 and sent to Dachau 11 Nov 1938.
He apparently was able to return to Mannheim by late March 1939 since Jenny writes in a letter of 7 April 1939 that they were engaged.
He was deported to Camp de Gurs 22 Oct 1940 where he worked in labor battalions outside the camp.
It appears he was deported on Convoy 26 to Auschwitz from Drancy on 31 August 1942 (he is listed as Sigmund Mayer born 29.03.07 Breiser). The convoy arrived at Auschwitz 2 September. The majority of the able men were selected at Kosel, not far from Auschwitz. These men worked in various camps in the area. The survivors were regrouped in March 1944 and sent to Auschwitz. 6
Siegmund is presumed to have died before the camp was liberated in May 1945. Source Michael Marx
