Sigidi (65), from Gleghanie Farm in Cedarville, Eastern Cape, was stabbed to death by two males, both aged 29 years old, in his home on 25th April 2009.
They fled in his car and overturned the vehicle a short distance from his farm.
“We are incensed by the barbaric and careless act,” said Kenny Biggs, chairman of the Cedarville and District Farmers’ Association. “He was not a member of our organisation, but he was still a part of the farming community.”
“The country cannot afford the loss of our food producers in these most difficult economic times,” said Kwanalu spokesman, Koos Marais. “It has been the declared policy of our government to give urgent attention to the high crime rate. Kwanalu thus calls on the government to attend to crime in a meaningful way and to protect all our people.”
