About Signe Maria (Peterson) Ismil

Signe Ismil, the daughter of the late Erick J. and Hilda Peterson, was born on Feb 7, 1913 in Huss Township of Roseau County, near Strathcona. She attended school and grew to womanhood there, and on Feb 7, 1939, was united in marriage to Emed Ismil in Roseau County. The couple farmed in Huss Township until 1965, when they moved to Princeton, MN and in 1968 to Cambridge, MN. Mr. Esmil passed away in May of 1969 and Signe has made her home at Princeton since that time. She passed away on Friday, Jan 29 at St. Paul at the age of 68 years, 11 months, and 22 days. She is survived by 3 sons: Alex, of Princeton, MN, Raymond, Verndale, MN, and Joseph, of Hibbing, MN; one daughter, Mrs. Everette (Marie) Poling, Fergus Falls, MN; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hilma Kruse, Strathcona, MN and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one daughter, Lila.

Funeral services were held at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 4 (1982) at the Faith Lutheran Church near Badger with Pastor Jerry Hanson officiating. Interment was in the Klondike Cemetary near there. Mrs. and Mrs. Roy Gjovik provided the special music and the casketbearers were: Wallace Hanson, russell Hanson, Melroy Wiskow, Curtis Wiskow, Ardell Gregerson and Peter Kruse.
