Simeon Moore, Sr.

Simeon Moore was born January 6, 1732 to Benjamin and Eunice Owens Moore in Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut. He was the youngest of nine children. His mother died shortly after he was born and his father remarried to Eunice Phelps. When Simeon was only 13, in 1745, his father died at the Battle of Louisburg on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.

Simeon was a farmer, a minister and a soldier. He fought in both the French and Indian War and the American Revolution along with all four of his sons.

On November 22, 1753, he married Hannah Barber and they had 9 children. Hannah, Benjamin, Chloe, Philander, Simeon, Eldad, Azubah, Lucinda, and Wealthy.

Simeon died July 18, 1789 at the age of 57 years 6 months and and 12 days. Inscription: "In memory of Mr. Simeon Moore who died July 2_ 1789 in the 57th year of his age and also Mis Weliby daugr of Mr. Simeon & Mrs. Hannah Moore...."
