Simon S. Hershberger

FREDERICKSBURG — Simon S. Hershberger, 85, 8907 Township Road 614, Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Holmes County on May 16, 1932, to the late Simon and Katie (Miller) Hershberger, and he married Ada S. Yoder on Nov. 7, 1957. She died Feb. 9, 2016. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

He is survived by his children, John (Erma) Hershberger of Gambier, Ruth (Atlee) Swartzentruber of Fredericksburg, Wesley (died Sept. 22, 2017) (Verba) Hershberger and Anna (Demas) Hershberger, both of Oak Hill, Ada Mae (Eli) Miller Jr. of the home and Katie (Ray) Miller of Fresno; 55 grandchildren; and 169 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents; wife; and son, Wesley, he was preceded in death by a grandchild; a great-grandchild; brothers, Andrew, Alvin, Emanuel and Samuel; and sisters, Barbara (Simon) Miller, Elizabeth (Dan) Keim, Amanda and Ella.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 9 a.m. at the family residence with Bishop LeRoy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Hershberger Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the family home. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements
