Birth: Dec. 18, 1691 Edinburgh City of Edinburgh, Scotland Death: Aug. 23, 1775
He was born in Edinburgh of royal nobility. He entered the military at age 13 and achieved the rank of Captain and was in the wars in Flanders and at the battle of Malplaquet.
He traveled to the colonies and became the Chief of the Cherokees. He traveled back to England with seven Cherokee chiefs to meet with George II at Windsor. The Cherokee delegation signed The Treaty of Whitehall.
He had a disagreement with the crown as to the expenses of the chiefs and lost his commission. He was thrown into debtors prison.
He was given his pension later in life. He died at Charter House on August 23rd and was buried August 28th.
He was honored more by the Cherokee than the English and they posted a sign by Nikwasi Mound in Franklin, NC in his honor.
