8 March 1607: Charter by Sir Robert Hamiltoun of Easter Greenlees, granting in favour of his son-in-law. Sir Claud Hamiltoun of Schawfield, knight, and his spouse, Jonet Hamilton, the granter's daughter, the half lands of Gorgie, etc., as in No. 1487 supra: To be held blench of the granter. 13 August 1609: Procuratory by Sir Robert Hamilton of Greenleys, great-grandson and heir of the late James Hamilton of Shawfield, his great-grand-father, with consent of his son-in-law. Sir Claud Hamilton of Shawfield, and Janet Hamilton, his daughter and heir, wife of Sir Claud, for fulfilling a contract between James Hamilton of Avandale, with consent of his interdicters, on the first part, Thomas Otterburn, elder, and Sir Thomas Otterburn, younger, of Reidhall, and Marion Cockburn, his wife, on the second part, and the granters above-named on the third part, constituting Mr. Alexander King of Drydane, advocate, their procurator, to resign the half lands of Gorgie, Avith the half mill (lying in the shire of Renfrew by annexation), into the hands of Thomas Otterburn and his son as superiors. Dated at Ruglen, 13th August 1609. Witnesses, Mr. Robert Hamilton, doctor of medicine in Glasgow, Mr. James Hamilton, advocate, James Hamilton, servitor of Sir Claud, and Bernard Thomeson, servitor of the younger laird of Reidhall.
