Biographical Summary
"Sir John Murray, afterwards Hepburn-Murray, Baronet [S. 1676], of Glendoick, and afterwards of Blackcastle, br. and h.; suc. to the Baronetcy in Dec. 1701 ; admitted an Advocate, 1702 ; suc. to the estate of Blackcastle on the death s.p. in or before 1703, of his maternal aunt, Margaret, widow of (her cousin) Sir Patrick Hepburn, when he assumed the name of Hepburn before that of Murray. He m. 23 July 1703, Mary, 2d da. of Sir Patrick Murray, 2d Baronet [S. 1673], of Ochtertyre, by Margaret, da. of Mungo Haldane, of Gleneagles. He d. 8 Jan. 1714. His widow d. 25 Aug. 1766."
