JOHN MAXWELL OF CALDERWOOD

John Maxwell of Calderwood is the son of Sir Robert Maxwell of Calderwood and his wife Sibella Carmichael. Maxwell Memoirs, i, pp. 470-71 On 10 August 1559 John Maxwell of Calderwood was served as heir to his deceased father Robert Maxwell of Calderwood. Following from this service, on 26 August 1559, he took possession of half the lands and mill of Blackburn in the barony of Bathgate, Protocol Books of James Foulis, 1546-1553, and Nicol Thounis, 1559-1564, protocol number 7 on p. 2
