Biographical Summary
"Sir John Steuart, Baronet [S. 1687], of Allanbank, 1st s. and h., b. 1754 ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 7 Oct. 1796. He m. 16 Sep. 1778, his cousin, Frances, da. of James Coutts, of Hampton and Whitsom Hill, Banker of London (M.P. for Edinburgh, 1762-68), by Polly Peagrim, his wife, which James was s. of John Coutts, Provost of Edinburgh, by Jean, da. of Sir John Steuart, 2d Baronet [S. 1686]. She d. at Flushing, co. Cornwall, 26 Oct. 1809. He d. 1817, aged 63."
