Biographical Summary
"Sir Norman Pringle, Baronet [S. 1683], br. and h. male, b. 22 July 1787, at Edinburgh ; second-Lieut. 21st Fusiliers, 1804 ; served in Sicily, 1806 ; in Egypt, 1807 ; at the defence of Scylla Castle, 1808 ; in Spain, with the Catalonian army, 1812 ; in Italy, 1814, being at the capture of Genoa ; also in North America, being in the actions of Baltimore, New Orleans, etc. ; became Major 21st Fusiliers in 1814, retiring in 1815 ; was Consul at Stockholm, 1846-57, and at Dunkirk, 1857, till death in 1870; suc. to the Baronetcy (in his 83d year) 15 June 1869, but not, apparently, to the estates. He ire., 17 Jan. 1826, at Alderston, in Scotland, Anne, 1st da. of Robert Steuart of Alderston. He d. 17 April 1870, aged 82, at the British Consulate, Dunkirk. His widow d. 4 Aug. 1883, at 85 St. George's Road, Pimlico."
