"Sir Norman William Drummond Pringle, Baronet [S. 1683], 1st s. and h., b. at Edinburgh, 16 April 1836; entered the army, 1858; Captain 38th Foot, 1868; suc. to the Buronetcy, 17 April 1870; Major, 1878 ; Lieut.-Col., 1882 ; served in Egypt, 1882 (medal and star) ; on the Upper Nile, 1885-86, being in command of the South Staffordshire Reg., 1885-86; Colonel, 1886, retiring from the service 1892 ; member of the Royal Archers, the Queen's bodyguard of Scotland. He m. 10 Jan. 1871, at St. Barnabas, Pimlico, his cousin, Louisa Clementina, yst da. of Robert Steuart, of Alderston. He d. 21 July 1897, aged 61, in Welbeck street, Marylebone. Will pr. at £26,389. His widow living 1904."
