Biographical Summary
"Sir Richard Musgrave, Baronet [S 1638] of Hayton castle, son and heir, born about 1701; succeeded to the Baronetcy in October 1711; matriculated at Oxford (Queen's Coll.) 31 May 1721, aged 18, and was created M.A., 18 June 1723; Sheriff of Cumberland, 1730-31. He married 13 January 1723/4 at Monkwearmouth, Anne, sister and coheir (1746) of John Hylton of Hylton Castle, co Durham, 2nd daughter of John Hylton, of the same, by Dorothy, daughter of Sir Richard Musgrave, 2nd Baronet [S]. He died intestate 5 and buried 8 October 1739, at Aspatria, aged 38. His widow, who was born 26 January 1697, and baptized at Washington, co Durham, died in London 1 and was buried 16 February 1766 at Aspatria."
