About Sir Robert Bruce
Lord Robert Bruce (died August 11, 1332) was an illegitimate son of King Robert I of Scotland and an unknown mother. His father made him Lord of Liddesdale. It has been suggested that he was the father of Thomas Bruce, 1st Baron of Clackmannan, but there is no clear evidence for this.
Faced with Edward Balliol's invasion of Scotland, he and the Donnchadh IV, Earl of Fife carried out an unsuccessful attempt to repel the landing at Kinghorn in Fife. He then quarrelled with the regent, Donald II, Earl of Mar.
He was killed leading a charge at the Battle of Dupplin Moor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Dupplin_Moor
