The Honourable Sir Rodmond Palen Roblin, (K.C.M.G. see below) of Carman and Winnipeg, Premier of Manitoba (1900-1915), Minister of Agriculture and Railways, born 15 Feb. 1853 in Sophiasburg Tp., Prince Edward County, Canada West, Deied 16 Feb. 1937 at Hot Springs, Arkansas. In 1881 Roblin, then called a merchant, is found at Dufferin, Manitoba, with his wife and there child, Wilfrid.
He was elected to the Manitoba Legislature as an Indepndent in 1888, and in 1896 he was elected as a Conservative for Woodlands. Soon afterward he was chosen leader of the party, and became Premier in 1900, by which time he was living in Winnipeg (in 1906 he was of Garry Street). He was Knighted in 1912. He resigned from political life in 1915 over the scandal concerning misappropriation of materials used in the construction of the Legislative Building. He married 13 September 1875, presumably in Ontario Adelaide DeMille.
K.C.M.G. (Kindley Call Me God) - British order of kingthood founded in 1818 by the Prince Regent, later King George IV, to commemorate the British protectorate ove lonian islands (noe in Greece) and Malta, which came under British rule in 1814. Originally membership was exclusively for inhabitants of the lanian islands and Malta, as well as for British citixens who had performed important government. Saint Michael and Saint George, The Most Distinguished Order.
