Biographical Summary
"Sir Thomas Hay, Baronet [S. 1703], 1st s. of Alexander Hay, of Mordington, Advocate, by his 1st wife, Jane Douglas, da. of Alexander Hamilton, of Ballinorieff, which Alexander Hay (who d. 1788), was one of the sons of Thomas Hay, of Huntingdon, Senator of the College of Justice under the style of Lord Huntingdon (d. 4 Feb. 1755), who was s. of Alexander Hay, of Huntingdon, Sheriff Depute of co. Haddington (d. 24 March 1745, aged 70), who was yr. br. of the 1st Baronet. He, who appears to have been residing in Canada or America, suc. to the Baronetcy, 13 April 1825, though it is doubtful if he then, or, indeed, ever assumed the title. He m. 2 Jan. 1793, Anna, widow of Major Bingham, da. of Sheffield Howard, of New York. He d. 1832."
