5 November 1494: Instrument under hand of Richard Mekle, clerk of St Andrews diocese, notary by imperial and royal authority, recording that Islay Herald, officer and sheriff in that part, came to the lands of Ovirthorntoune, Nethir Thorntoune, Estir Akingall, Westir Akingall, Crechnowis and Monynet, and by virtue of letters under the testimony of the Great Seal recognosced the said lands and placed them under the King's sasine, because the said lands were disputed between Alexander, lord Hume, and Thomas Hume of Langschaw, to remain with the King until they were demitted to the last possessor thereof. 27 April 1507: Instrument on the renunciation by Nicholas Hwme, eldest son and heir of Thomas Hwme of Langschaw, knight, in the absence of his father, before the vicar of Colmonll, commissary for the time of the officialate of Glasgow, sitting in judgment in the consistoiy of the cliurclh of Glasgow, after lhaving made oath on the Holy Scriptures, of all riglit and title competent to him and his heirs, both of line and of entail, as heir or heirs of the said Thomas Hwme in the lands of Langachaw and Gallowberis, in the lordship of Stewartoun, shire of Ayr, held in conjunct fee by Alison Culquhoune, spouse of the said Thomas Hwme, during the time of her life and of her coujunct fee ; promising for himself and his heirs never to contravene his approval and ratification of the said Alison's conjunct infeftment of the said lands, but to protect and defend her in the peaceable possession thereof during her lifetime. To the inviolable observance of all and sundry the premises the said conimissary and judge warned the foresaid Nicholas, on pain of the greater excommunication.
