Biographical Summary
Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn, Baronet [1688], of Wynnstay, 1st s. and h., by 2d wife, b. 25 Oct. 1772 ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 29 July 1789 ; matric. at Oxford (Ch. Ch.), 15 Oct. 1789, aged 16, being cr. D.C.L. 4 July 1793; M.P. for Beaumaris, 1794-96, and for Denbighshire, (fourteen Paris.) 1796 till death in 1840, being a supporter of Pitt's administration ; L. Lieut, of Denbighshire and Merionethshire ; sometime aide-de-camp to William IV ; was, from his great influence in his district, called " the Prince of Wales ". He m., 4 Feb. 1817, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Henrietta Antonia, 1st da. of Edward (Clive), 1st Earl of Powis [1804], by Henrietta Antonia, da. of Henry Arthur (Herbert), 1st Earl of Powis [1748], sister and heir of the 2d Earl. She, who was b. 5 Sep. 1786, d. 22 Dec. 1835. He d. at Wynnstay, 6, and was bur. 15 Jan. 1840, at Rhuabon, in his 68th year. Will pr. April 1840 and Sep. 1851.
