Sophia Christina Carolina SCHMIDT was the daughter of Johann of Schloen, Mecklenburg, Germany.
She died either on the 1855 voyage to America or shortly afterwards.
Sophia SCHMIDT in 1818 at Kargow was working as a domestic servant(Dienstmädchen). She died on board the "Nord Amerika" at sea according to family tradition although the Captain of the ship did not record such death but could be an omission.
Her father was listed in her 1820 Kargow marriage record as Johann(no middle name) SCHMIDT of Schlön. Some believe he was deceased at the time of marriage, but a Johann Christian SCHMIDT appears in several of the Mollenhagen baptisms in the 1820's and may have died there or this was a Johann SCHMIDT JR.
The Kargow 1819 Census shows only one SCHMIDT family: Jakob b.18SEP1757.Schwasdorf/Gr.Dratow & his wife, Maria PRAST/PRESTON, b.28SEP1751.Schlôn. A Sophia SCHMIDT, b.27AUG1801, is living with them & may be a niece & our #039.
