About Sophia A. Dreiling

Sophia S. Dreiling, 95, died Saturday, May 10, 1997 at Hays Medical Center - St. Anthony Campus, Hays.

She was born April 5, 1902 at Victoria, the daughter of Alois & Clementine Billinger Sander

A lifetime Victoria resident, she was a homemaker. She entered St. John’s Rest Home, Victoria, in January 1995. She begonged to St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary, all at Victoria.

On May 17, 1921 she married Alphonse J. Dreiling at Victoria. He died July 11, 1950.

Survivors include five sons, Marvin O. of Hays, Alfred J. and Thomas, both of Victoria, Charles of Dallas, Jim of Wichita; four daughters, Lorraine Bird of Bethel Park, Penn., Lucy Roth of Wichita, Ruth Stephens of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Theresa Ellis of Boulder, Colo.; two brothers, Alex Sander of Victoria, and Sil Sander of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Barbara Knoll of Victoria, and Katie Herman of Hays; 37 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Clem Sander; three sisters, Genevieve and Lucinda Sander, and an infant sister Lorinda Sander; two sons, Elmer and Hubert Dreiling; and a daughter, Mary Ellen Dell.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a VFW Auxiliary memorial service at 7:30 p.m., and a Daughters of Isabella and Christian Mothers rosary at 8 p.m., all at Cline’s Mortuary, Victoria. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, with Father Frank X. Grinko presiding. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday atthe morturay. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials have been established with St. Fidelis Catholic Church and St. John's Home, Victoria.
