I can remember as a child staying nights with nana & pop in their old house before they built their new one. I used to sleep with nana. Nana used to look after us when mum was working. She used to do my hair to go to school. Nana could crochet beautiful doylies, edges of doylies ec, all by sight could not read a pattern. She tried to teach me to crochet but i could never master it. (can crochet now)She had the patience of a saint trying to teach me. I can see nana sitting at the kichen table bowl between her legs creaming dripping & sugar to make patty cakes, boy were they beautiful. She made the best pickles & tomato jam, never tasted anything like it. Nana had the misfortune to have a fall & break her femor. She then spent her last remaning years in Tingha hospital. Nana was a school cleaner before Mum. I remember nana working at the school & used to help her clean windows using the old cake of white stuff that you put on the windows then had to clean it off (yuk). When ever nan made a pudding we always knew uncle Toby was coming for the weekend
