Stanley Kraybill Souder

Stanley K. Souder, 80, of Telford, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Grand View Hospital. He was the loving husband for 60 years to Velma M. (Martin) Souder.

Born in Sellersville, to the late Edwin and Ruth (Kraybill) Souder.

Stanley was a Franconia Elementary Teacher for 21 years for Souderton Area School District. He graduated in 1954 from Eastern Mennonite College with a BA in Bible and Education.

Stanley was interested in local history, world missions, art and music. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors.

Stanley was a life time member of Rockhill Mennonite Church of Telford, where he served as a former Sunday school teacher and recently attended Souderton Mennonite Church.

In addition to his wife, Velma, he is survived by six daughter, Kris Detweiler and husband, Dale, of Sarasota, FL, Kathy Risser and husband, Ben, of Harrisonburg, VA, Deb Hedrick of Spring Hill, FL, Donna M. Derstine and husband, Ken, of Sellersville, M. Jane Seaman and husband, Dennis, of Telford and Lisa Grasse and husband, Jim, of Chalfont,; two sons, Michael Souder and wife, Tammy, of Sarasota, FL and D. Kevin Souder and wife, Mary, of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Irene Bechtel of Souderton; a brother, Eugene Souder and wife, Alice, of Grottoes, VA; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mahlon, Norman and L. Kraybill; and four sisters, Grace Kolb, Elizabeth Allebach, Gladys Kolb and Iona Weaver.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, at 11AM at Rockhill Mennonite Church, 3100 Meetinghouse Road, Telford. Visitation will be held at Anders Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory Thursday evening from 6 to 8PM and Friday morning at Rockhill Mennonite Church from 9 to 10:30AM. Burial will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
