About Stefan Bing
http://www.trix-twin.co.uk/Trixpeople.htm
According to my mother, Liselotte Erlanger, when the family-owned GBN (Gebrüder Bing Nürnberg) factories were nationalized by the Nazis, Stefan Bing went to England where he adapted his knowledge of making miniature lights for use on the company's popular electric model trains to manufacture small dash-board lights for RAF aircraft in the service of the British. For this he was given an award by the British government. I have no documentation for this story, it is simply what my mother told me. -- catherine yronwode
