Stiles Baldwin

Stiles Baldwin, son of Nathaniel Baldwin and Susannah York, was bpt. in Woodbridge in Oct. 1803; m. on June 2, 1834, MARY JOHNSON, settled as a farmer in that part of Derby, Conn., now Ansonia. Children all born in Derby.

Children were: Lauren, Dwight Harrison, Semantha Grace (m. Dyer, and lives at Derby Narrows), Mary Gertrude, Eliza Ann (says her aunt, wife of Charles, while G.M. says Susan), and Star.

I believe that wife Mary died on Jan. 24, 1865 and that Stiles re-married to LENA ---. She was born 1836 in Conn. (Mary does not appear on 1870 census, but Lena does).

• 1850 census: Stiles (47, b Ct) and wife Mary G. (36, b Ct); in Derby, Conn. w ch. Stiles L. (15), Dwight H. (11), Samantha G. (7) and Gertrude (3). He and son Stiles are farmers..
• 1870 census: Stiles (67) and wife LENA (34, b Ct); in Derby, Conn. w ch. Dwight (31) and his wife Amanda (25, b Ct), Gertrude (22), Eliza (19), and Stan (13). He is a farmer, son Dwight is farm laborer.
