Birth Surname breakthrough updated Oct. 8, 2021 by Gisele G., Sara’s great granddaughter: (with the help of Charles G., her mom’s Arminda G. DNA’s match from Rio) found registries of Sura Dewojra’s birth date and location, plus name of parents in Polish archives. Updating accordingly:

Sura’s birth name is registered in a census book as: Sura Dwojra Zilberberg (with an i instead of a y), she is the daughter of Izrail Kerszenbaum and Malka (née ? = unknown), she was born in the city of Gniewoszów on 10.09.1864 and lived in Ozarów at the time of her marriage to Jankiel Zilberberg (son of Josek and Fajga Zilberberg).

Sura immigrated to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil along her daughter Rywka and her son Josek Gerszon (most likely in the 1920s) where her other children also immigrated to. Her granddaughter Arminda said that her mom Rywka (Regina) mentioned that Sura found the level of Judaism religious observance in the country was low, so she moved back to Poland.

Gisele her great granddaughter will search for the date of her passing in Polish archives. Side note from research: the city of Ożarów where she lived during her marriage (and most likely moved back to after immigrating to Brazil) was invaded by the Nazis in 1939 and all its inhabitants were sent to Treblinka concentration camp in 1942 (she would have been 78 years old) but her name doesn’t show up in online Holocaust victim’s lists - she probably died before that year).
