Notes
Capt. James Parsons and Henry Fink were two of the earliest explorers of the area. The Parsons and Finks were among the first families to settle the Horseshoe Bottom area of West Virginia, and the families were neighbors.
Both Susan's father, Henry Fink, and her brother, John Fink (d. 2/4/1782), were killed by Indians in separate attacks at their farm at Fink's Run.
Susan married William Parsons in Harrison Co. 1786 when she was 16. She died in childbirth with her seventh child, Charles.
or
Susan and William had 8 children, 7 of whom lived to maturity, and an infant who died with his mother on Sycamore Creek, near Ripley in Jackson County, WV (then Mason County, VA) in 1807, and was interred with her in the present old Ripley graveyard.
Susan and her baby were the first to be buried in the Old Ripley Cemetery.
