She was the daughter of the Rev. Josiah Sherman (1729-1789) and Martha Minot (daughter of of the Hon. James Minot of Concord, by his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Merrick of Brookfield, Massachusetts).
She was also the sister of Roger Minott Sherman, Chief Justice of Connecticut, and the niece of American founding father Roger Sherman, the only America to place his signature on all of the Great Founding Papers of America.
- By her daughter, Martha Minot Drake, she was the mother-in-law of Michigan Lt. Governor & Associate Justice of the Utah Supreme Court Thomas Jefferson Drake
- By her brother, Josiah Sherman, she was the aunt of the Henry Sherman, Chief Justice of the New Mexico Territory
- By her sister, Elizabeth Mitchell (Sherman), she was the aunt of U.S. Representative Dr. Henry Mitchell
- By her sister, Martha 'Patty' Mitchell (Sherman), she was the great-aunt of U.S. Senator Chauncey Mitchell Depew

Most likely buried in Mount Avon Cemetery, Rochester, Oakland County, Michigan, next to her husband Nathaniel Baldwin.
Note: It's possible Nathaniel and Susanna were buried on their farm, two miles south of the village of Rochester and later moved to Mount Avon Cemetery. There's no headstone at Mount Avon for Susanna.
