Mr. & Mrs. John Peter Holzemer of New England, ND formerly of Vermillion, Dakota Co., MN, will observe thier golden wedding, Sunday Sept. 7, 1958 with a reception & open house from 2 - 5 pm in Memorial Hall, New England ND. No cards have been sent out. All friends & relatives who can make the trip are invited.
Both Mr. & Mrs. Holzemer are well know at Vermillion. Mrs. Holzemer was the daughter of Anton & Elizabeth Beissel Ficker, who both died before 1908. They lived on the V. E. Rother place. Mr. Holzemer was the son of Conrad & Susan Holzemer, who resided on the old Holzemer farm near Vermillion.
The couple was united in marriage Sept 8, 1908 at 10 am at St. John's Catholic church, Vermillion, with Fr. Schmidt officiating. The bridesmaid was Helen Holzemer, now Mrs. Al Warner of St. Paul, a cousin of the groom. The best man was Conrad Ficker, brother of the bride, who died in Watkins, MN in May of 1956.
A dinner was held at the Ficker home in honor of the wedding. Mr. Holzemer went to ND & homesteaded in 1907 & 1908, they both went back & homesteaded on the farm, which is 2 miles east of Amidon, until they retired in 1954, moving to New England, ND. Their son Anton is now on the farm.
At the Golden Wedding there will be a dinner for the immediate family at noon in Memorial hall, New England, ND. All the children expect to be present. They are Conrad of St. Paul, Ray of Hampton, George of Madison, Lucille Heilman of Los Angles, CA., Harold of Fort Collins, CO., Leo, Stanley & Anton, Amidon, ND., Sylvia Koppinger, New England, ND.
Another son Ernest was killed in action on Leyte Island in1945. Brothers of Mr. Holzmer are, Peter C., & Ted Holzmer of Hastings, & Nic Holzemer of Kranzburg, SD.
Brothers & sisters of Mrs. Holzmerare Mrs. Agatha Schwartz, Vermillion, Mrs. Lean Huberty of Lakeville, Mrs. Kate Krohn of Hastings & Nic Ficker of St. Paul.
