Susanna Jacomina Botha (maiden surname Janse Van Rensburg) and better known as "Ouma Susan"
Her father Izak Zurk Janse Van Rensburg owned the farm "Vaalbank" near Edenbug, Free State, South Africa.
5 Children are born from this marriage, namely:
Izak Botha
Jacobus Casparus Botha (Oom Kosie)
Miemie Botha
Cornelia Johanna Botha
Barry Botha
After her divorce from Jacobus Casparus Botha, Ouma Susan moves to Bloemfontein.
Where she meets and marries Pieter Snyman.
After her second husband Pieter Snyman passes away, Ouma Susan moved into an Old age home, and lived there until she passed away in 1970. She was buried in Bloemfontein.
She was one amazing "spiffy" lady. Always dressed smartly with hat and gloves. When my Mom was pregnant with me(Joyce) they were on the farm and the cow chased my Mom.My gran told my mom to run and she used her apron to wave the cow away, shouting shoei, shoei. That story has always stuck in my mind.
My sister Susan was her "wit broodjie".
Just before she passed away she stayed with us & she had this incredibly long snow white hair. She was ill & the hair could not be washed, so I would put baby powder on it & comb it through her hair so it would not be greasy. She was a real prim & proper Lady. I loved her so very much.
