Susanna Maria Elizabeth Nell (1936 - 2020)

Brief overview:

Susanna (84), was found strangled to death on Farm Elandsfontein, at 09h00 24th February 2020. Susanna’s farm worker, Frans, arrived at work earlier in the morning. He knocked on the door, but no-one answered. He walked around the house and saw that her bedroom window was open and the burglar bars broken. Frans then went and informed the neighbour next door who notified Susanna’s family.

The police K9 Unit was deployed, and they later found her body hidden under a heap of clothing in the dining room. When they pinged her phone, the last location was near the Klerksdorp area. The family suspected that the perpetrators are two people staying on the farm.

The investigation led the police to Klerksdorp, where three suspects - a woman (64), and her son (29), and his friend (23). The woman and her son were living with Susanna.

On 27th February 2020, Deborah Swanepoel (64), her son Jacobus Pieter Swanepoel (29), and Chris van Vuuren, (23), appeared in court briefly before the case was postponed to March 5th 2020 for bail applications.
