Susanna was a manumitted slave from the island of Sulawesi (Celebes) which island is comprised of various ethnic groups including the Buginese.
Worth pondering is the marriage of their daughter to a Company slave bearing the name of a baptised (ex?)-Jewish executioner...
Lest we forget what we have 'in common' with that other contrivance 'Indonesia' whose national motto 'Bhinneka Tunggal Ika' is an old Javanese phrase generally (loosely?) translated as 'Unity in Diversity'...which, coincidentally, also just happens to be the new South African motto - albeit 'made up' into the extinct /Xam language...
