full blood Cherokee
Susannah was a Cherokee woman
Biography
Almost nothing is known of Susannah except her name. She married John Hilde(r)brand, a white man, about 1810. John came into the Cherokee Nation about 1800 with a white wife and family. His first wife apparently left him and he married Susannah. They were the parents of at least four children, David, Nannie, Elizabeth, and Mary. [1] Susannah died before November, 1818 since John took a reservation of land "in right of his children" that month. John stated that there were six in the family at that time so there may have been an additional child who died young. [2]
