Susannah Kearns

bit: Susan Kearns was born January 17, 1831, in Richland County, Ohio and died at her home near Paralta, Iowa, June 21, 1901, age 70 years, 5 months and 4 days. She was united in marriage to J.J. Stewart, January 20, 1853, and moved over land to Iowa in the fall of the same year where she has since resided. To this union six children were born of whom three are living, Mrs. Clara Erion of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mrs. Rosa Dunn of Page Co., Iowa and John A. Stewart of Paralta. The two latter were with their mother in her last days. She was left a widow in August 1864, and was again married in December 3, 1870, to Abraham Bolton. Two daughters were born to them. The surviving daughters, Mrs. Ida Hudson, was also with her mother during her last illness. Mrs. Bolton, familiarly known as "Aunt Susan" and universally loved and esteemed by all who knew her, united with the church in her youth and although not a regular attendant at public services, gave every evidence of her Christian faith. Among her last words were "We'll never say goodbye in Heaven" repeating it many times. Funeral services were conducted in the Paralta church on Sabath morning, June 23, and the crowed house to her many widespread acquaintance.
