Susan Jacoba Mostert (1941 - 2004) .

Brief overview:

Susan (61), was assaulted and strangled with barbed wire in her farm house, around 19h00 on 14th January 2004. Neighbours, David Nkebenyane (56), and his wife, Florence Malatadiane (70), had gone to assist their neighbours, Susan and Johannes Jacobus Frederick Mostert (77) after they were shot. They, too, lost their lives.

The two couples had lived next door to each other for the past six months on Witkoppies farm between Meyerton and Henley-on-Klip. Johannes Mostert was shot in the head and chest, and Susan strangled with barbed wire. According to captain Shodo Mashobane, David was shot in the shoulder, his wife Florence was shot in the arm. Their bodies were found in their small one-roomed house. Paul van Niekerk, the Mostert's son-in-law, went with his wife Elize, the following morning, and said it appeared as if his mother-in-law had been cooking dinner when they were attacked.

The couple had lived in De Deur, but felt unsafe there. A friend then offered them a house on his farm, where they had lived for the past few months.
