Suzie (84), a widow living alone, was found murdered in her home, in Ferguson Township, Port Elizabeth, on 12th March 2013. She was found by her son, Eric (64), lying face-up on her bedroom floor, with a pillow over her face. Her hands were tied behind her back.

Police spokesman Captain Stanley Jarvis said Willemse’s gardener, a casual labourer she hired for the day, had been identified as the prime suspect. “A team of detectives is on the case and still looking for the suspect,” he said. “There are several leads that are being followed up and these cannot be revealed at this stage. We have obtained more statements from residents to assist with the investigation.” Jarvis said forensic evidence from the scene had been sent for testing.
