About Svend "Korsfarer (Crusader)" Svendsen

Sweyn the Crusader (in Danish: Svend Korsfarer (IPA: [sven 'kɔ:sfɑ:ə]), c. 1050 in Denmark-1097 in Turkey) was a Danish crusader. He was a son of the Danish king Sweyn Estridsen. He is famous for his participation in the First Crusade, where he was chiefly fighting against the Turks. On his way to Jerusalem in 1097, he and 1,500 other Danish knights were attacked by the Turks. The Danes lost the battle, and Sweyn the Crusader was killed. He was married to Florine of Burgundy.
