SYBIL (JOHNSON) PITTS / 1779 - 1867

Daughter of Elisha Johnson (1749 - 1800) and Hepsebah (Adams) Johnson (1758 - 1842).. Sybil Johnson was born on June 27, 1779 in Orange (Franklin County), Massachusetts.

Sybil Johnson married Bishop Pitts (1769 - 1805) in the latter 1790's in Franklin County, Massachusetts. Bishop and Sybil (Johnson) Pitts are thought to have been parents to four children -- 1.) Elisha Johnson Pitts / 1800 - ????, 2.) "Captain" Samuel Pitts (later of Alton, IL) / 1802 - 1885, 3.) Orine / Orene (possibly 'Orinda') / 1804 - ????, and 4.) Anna Pitts. Of these, there is no documentation extant or emergent regarding Anna Pitts.

Widowed by the death of Bishop Pitts in 1805, Sybil (Johnson) Pitts was remarried within appr. one year to Samuel Holden (1769 - ????) of Franklin County. Samuel and Sybil (Johnson / Pitts) Holden were parents to six children -- 1.) Orinda (Holden) Spooner / 1807 - ????, 2.) Hannah Holden / 1810 - 1831, 3.) Ruth Holden / 1812 - ????, 4.) Daniel Holden / 1814 - ????, 5.) John B. Holden / 1816 - 1877, and 6.) George C. Holden / 1821 - ????.

Per "Massachusetts Deaths: 1841 - 1915, 1921 - 1924", Sybil Holden passed away, age 88, on January 24, 1867 in Orange (Franklin County), Massachusetts. Perversely, father is recorded as Elisha "Franklin" and mother is recorded as "Hepsabeth Franklin".
